Welcome to your Gauntlet!
What are you getting yourself into?
Essentially the gauntlet is a series of role-plays to get a sense of how you would work in our support environment, and also for you to get a taste of the role. Everything I ask will be public knowledge, so no needing any internal tools — you just need to be resourceful. We'll complete a mock support chat first, followed by a support calls, and finally I'll provide a link to a fake email for you to respond to within 15 minutes of receiving the link. It's important to note that during our interactions I'll be playing the role of merchant, and you'll be the Guru helping guide me. After the support chat and the first phone call, I'll provide some brief feedback in Google Hangouts for you to take forward through your remaining time in the gauntlet.
I’ll be looking for resourcefulness, technical ability, empathy, and affability along with strong communication and resolve. It's important that you understand the answers you're sending to our merchants, so make sure you're putting things into your own words and giving enough detail! As well, remember to be yourself- we thrive on human conversations here at Shopify so I've found if you can sound like you're talking to your friend, you're off to a great start!
We'll be aiming for our chat to be completed within 13 minutes and our call to be wrapped up within 10 minutes. After that, as mentioned, you'll be given a link to complete an email response within 15 minutes of us parting ways.
When you're ready to begin, click the "Start your Gauntlet!" bottom at the bottom right and enter your name along with a "Shopify" greeting you'd offer to a merchant.
